Up, up and away! A steep site transformed into an oasis that draws you out and asks you to stay.

Up, up and away! A steep site transformed into an oasis that draws you out and asks you to stay.
The challenge was to make this steeply terraced site work for the client functionally and alluring enough to draw them up, up and into the garden above. We installed bespoke elements such as the blue tile and corten water feature and step ladder. These bring a highly personalised touch to this garden. Seating has been added to each level, inviting relaxation amongst the lush planting.
The plants overflow in this garden. Layers of planting respond to the layers of the site. Silver Lady Ferns, Birdsnest Ferns, Salvia, Gaura, Native Violets and Sea Side Daisy create waves of green, foaming with flowers washing the garden in abundant life, softening all the edges. Retaining walls drip with Dichondra ‘Silver Falls’ and climbing Rose, traces along the fence line.
The magic in the detail of this garden, the planting, the unique design allows functional elements to retreat visually. The eye is drawn out and up and returns down with the sound of water. Hidden in plain sight the storage built into the bench and the built-in BBQ allow for perfect entertaining and storing of cushions when not in use.
